What should I do first when a circuit breaker trips in my home?

Start by switching the tripped breaker fully OFF, then back ON. Unplug or switch off devices on that circuit before you reset. If it trips again immediately, stop and call a pro. Our factory-trained technicians provide 24/7 emergency troubleshooting and repairs in the greater St. Louis area. We perform diagnostics, targeted repairs, and can inspect GFCI/AFCI issues.

Quick checks:

  • Turn off/unplug loads on the circuit.
  • Reset breaker: firmly to OFF, then ON.
  • Do not keep resetting if it trips again.
  • Reset any GFCI/AFCI outlets on that circuit.
  • Call if you notice heat, odor, or damage. <br/>
